FutrillPicCroppedSept 11--Mr. Gary Denson Futrill, age 69, of Adrian passed away on Wednesday morning, September 11, 2019 at the Serenity House in Dublin, Georgia.
Born in Dublin, was the only child born to the late Curtis Patterson and Viola Lois Woods Futrill.  He grew up near Jessup before moving to Adrian where he graduated from high school, Class of 1968.  After high school he attended Swainsboro Technical College and Albany Technical College where he earned his degree in Electrical Construction.
He had worked at International Minerals and Chemical Company in Augusta, GA, Winston Salem, NC, Clewiston, FL and Americus, GA before starting his own salvage business in Americus.  In the early 1990’s he started working as an Electrician in Wrightsville, GA.  In 1998 he transitioned to working with the U.S. Postal Service in Swainsboro, Wadley, Midville and Bartow; until retiring in 2016.
Gary was an avid collector of Model HO Scale trains, enjoyed woodworking and renovating old vintage camping trailers.
He was a lifelong Methodist and had attended Poplar Springs United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Angela Baxter Futrill, who passed away in 1986 and his second wife, Linda Woods Futrill who passed away in 2016.
Gary leaves behind, his children, John Futrill (Peggy), Columbia, SC, Amy Knight (Shawn), Jackson, GA, Melinda Hall, Adrian, GA, ten grandchildren, Mercedes Josey (Kaleb), Rhett Mixon (Karina), Heaven Mixon, Serenity Runyon, Gage Futrill, Mason Knight, Malina McKinzie, Karl Knight, Danielle Way, Hannah Way and two great grandchildren, John Rhett “J.R.” Mixon and Madelyn Grace “Maddy Grace” King.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Harden officiating.
Mr. Futrill will be laid to rest in Poplar Springs Methodist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, at the church, from 10:00 am until the hour of the service.
