FutchPicAug 29--The Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home announces the death and funeral arrangements for Mr. Sylvester Futch, age 92, of 403 Washington Street in Vidalia, GA.

Mr. Futch was born in Liberty County, GA on September 6, 1926, to the parentage of the Late Pharis and the Late Geneva Futch. When the family relocated to Vidalia, GA, he was enrolled and graduated from the Dickerson Traning School.  He was drafted into the United States Army during World War II.  His educational pursuits afforded him the privilege to attend and graduate from The Savannah State College, Savannah, GA and the Atlanta University, Atlanta, GA.  He was a retired educator from the Vidalia City School System, Vidalia, GA.

Mr. Futch was a member of the First African Missionary Baptist Church, Vidalia, GA.  He was a member of the Georgia Association of Educators as well as The American Legion Gillis-Riggins Post # 313 of Vidalia, GA.  He loved spending his every available moment on his farm.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: a sister: Esther Johnson of Greenville, GA; nieces: Rosemary (Gene) Cannida of Vidalia, GA, Gwendolyn Johnson of Greenville, GA, Cynthia (Bobby) Futch of Washington, D.C., and Hilda (Don) Bentley of Collins, GA; nephews: Ken Futch pf Bowie, MD, Endrei Baker of Claxton, GA, Robert Futch of Gaithersburg, MD and Janelius Baker of Claxton, GA.  He will also be lovingly remembered by a host of relatives and friends.
Public Viewing for Mr. Sylvester Futch will be held at the Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home, Vidalia, GA on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 1pm till 7pm.
Graveside Service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Eternal Glory Garden with Military Honors.
