Nov.30-Mrs. Pauline P. Blount, age 96, of Soperton, passed away on Thursday morning, November 29, 2018 at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Soperton First Baptist Church with Pastor Thomas Williams officiating.

Mrs. Blount will be laid to rest in Westview Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Soperton First Baptist Church.

Born in Covena, Georgia, she was the only child born to the late Frank and Agnes L. Wilkes Phillips. She was a graduate of Swainsboro High School before attending the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and graduating from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro with her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. In 1946 she married Treutlen County native, Perry Blount, Jr. Mrs. Blount taught third grade in the Treutlen County Public School System for over thirty-five years before retiring. She loved her students and maintained an interest in their lives years after she taught them.

She was a lifelong member of Soperton First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the adult choir and was a frequent soloist. Mrs. Blount was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.

She was a gifted artist and enjoyed sharing her oil paintings with family and friends.

She leaves behind her husband of seventy-two years, Perry Blount, Jr., Soperton, GA, their son, Phillip Blount and his wife, Gayle, Statham, Georgia, a granddaughter, Lauren Belcher and her husband, Wesley, Winder, Georgia, a great granddaughter, Abigayle Mae Belcher, and a great grandson, Pearson Phillip Belcher.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Eddie Hall, Sammy Young, Joey Pullen, Phil Wilcher, Terry Horne and Charles Johnson.

Sammons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
