September 12--  The Vidalia City school system has found a buyer for the city block the Central Office currently occupies on Adams Street.

School Superintendent Dr. Garrett Wilcox says the property was put up for public sale through the Temples Company and that a contract is pending.

Meanwhile, the school board is putting bids out to re-roof the old Vidalia High School building on North Street and plans to relocate the Central Office, the maintenance department and the transportation department to the old building.  Wilcox estimates more than three-quarters of the building will be occupied.

A public auction is also in the works to sell surplus desks, filing cabinets and other items not moved to the new high school last month.

For staff use only.
