Entrance to the new Montgomery County High School
August 8, 2018
After many years of vision and planning, the Montgomery County school system is just months away from the completion of a brand new Middle and High School facility, located across the street from the current schools. In his third year, Superintendent Hugh Kight says school has started off strong and everyone is excited about moving into the new school.
"In my three years, this has been the best start so far and if everything goes as planned, we should be in the new building when everyone returns from Fall Break on October 9th.  We will have an open house before then, but right now the exterior is almost completed and the windows are still being installed. As far as the interior goes, the classrooms, administration wing, and the lunchroom are 95% completed.  The gym still lacks the windows facing Highway 280 and the flooring.  Things are looking good and although the weather hasn't helped, you're going to see the landscaping come together pretty soon" said Kight.
Additionally, Mr. Kight says he is excited because "this isn't just a school event, it is a community event and it could be fifty years before this is done again."

Not only is the new school nearly finished, but the "29 Building" has been renovated as well and now houses the Montgomery County Board of Education.  Plans for the community open house will be announced later.
