July 12-- The Tommy and Shirley Strickland Cancer Center, a division of Meadow Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, received the donation of a Prone Breast Board from Mike & Meridy Cochran.

mrmccochran(L-R) Radiation Oncologist Dr. Henry Cline, Mike Cochran, Meridy Cochran, Samantha Walker, RN OCN. Director of Cancer Care Services, Medical Oncologist Dr. Stephen Tiley.

According to Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Henry Cline, "For some patients, treatment in the prone (face down) position, can reduce the amount of lung and heart volumes in the treatment fields. By better protecting the normal tissues adjacent to the breast, the risk of long-term side effects of breast radiation can be reduced by use of the prone breast board."

"I deeply appreciate the Cochrans and their unwavering devotion to the Cancer Center. Many of our patients will be impacted by their generous donation," said Samantha Walker, RN OCN Director of Cancer Care Services for The Tommy and Shirley Strickland Cancer Center.
