June 29--  A Toombs County jury has found a man guilty of felony murder.

guerreroarrestChief Assistant District Attorney Tripp Fitzner reports 25-year-old Jesus Guerrero was convicted after a week long trial.

After deliberating several hours Thursday night and again Friday morning, the jury found Guerrero guilty of the shooting death of his girlfriend, 26-year-old Shiann Nicole Cray, at her apartment in Santa Claus May 5 of 2016.

At the time of the crime, Toombs County Sheriff Junior Kight reported Guerrero went into hiding with another girlfriend and her two small children.  He was later captured by U.S. Marshals as he attempted to enter Mexico from Texas.

The jury also found Guerrero guilty on two counts of cruelty to children, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.

Judge Robert Reeves is expected to sentence Guerrero on July26.
