June 27--  Twelfth District Congressman Rick Allen today joined 301 other congressman voting against the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. Only 121 lawmakers voted for the proposal.

Allen issued the following statement.

"I’ve said it before and I will say it again – I believe our immigration system is broken, but the legislation brought before the House today did not go far enough to address the significant issues we are facing at our borders,” said Congressman Allen.

“Moving forward, we must come together to enact substantive changes to our immigration laws to end chain migration, reform our agricultural worker visa program, and transition to a merit-based immigration system. Simply put, we need solutions that work for America.”
