June 11--  A man wanted for aggravated assault in Soperton is in custody after a week-long search.

Treutlen County Sheriff Tommy Corbin reports Robert Parker, Jr. was apprehended after fleeing from police in Soperton Friday, June 1, "He was captured Friday in Valdosta.  U.S. Marshals, the Treutlen Sheriff's Office and Vidalia police worked together to follow the leads and track him to Valdosta where he was taken into custody without incident."

Police were attempting to arrest Parker for beating up his girlfriend last March when he ran into a wooded area of Soperton and eluded police overnight.  The sheriff said he made his way to Valdosta with the help of friends.
