The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize nurses who go above and beyond in providing excellent care to their patients every day. Meadows Regional Medical Center, a proud DAISY Award hospital partner, recognizes one nurse each month to receive the special award.

Avery was nominated by a family member of one of her patients. The nomination mentioned her compassion and empathy as reasons why she was nominated.

“Lane is an extremely talented registered nurse who always puts patients and families first,” said Meadows Regional Medical Center Interim Chief Nursing Officer, Jeffrey Harden. “We are delighted to honor her with the March Daisy Award.”

Avery has been employed with Meadows Regional Medical Center for eight years and currently resides in Vidalia.

The Daisy Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received during his hospital stay inspired this unique means of recognizing extraordinary nurses who make an enormous difference in the lives of patients.
