May 8--  The Vidalia Board of Education thanked four retiring personnel at its May meeting Tuesday with presentations of resolutions of appreciation to each retiree.

normaFor the third consecutive year, the Georgia Department of Audits presented its "Award of Distinction for Excellent Financial Reporting" to the Vidalia school system. 

Finance Director Norma Croft (L) accepted the award from Caroline James and said, "I am grateful that our school bookkeepers and central office accounting personnel take such pride in their work and choose to work hard to maintain a standard of excellence that has been the hallmark of Vidalia City Schools."

The state award was created in 2014 and is presented when financial reports are free of significant deficiencies, comply with all transparency in government requirements and receive unmodified audit opinions.
