April 25--  Every bed at Meadows Regional Medical Center is currently taken and the hospital is diverting patients to other hospitals.

Medical Center spokesperson Elizabeth Harvill issued the following statement when questioned about the full house.

"There have been a large number of very sick patients who have been admitted to the Intensive Care and Progressive Care Units over the last few days, filling those units to capacity.

"Whenever hospital ICU's and PCU's are at capacity and are no longer able to accept additional patients, emergency patients that arrive needing admission beyond the the scope of routine care, ER or Surgery are typically transferred to one of our referral hospitals, like Memorial or St. Joseph's/Candler.

Diversion is usually a very temporary situation lasting from a few hours to a day or two. The Emergency Room is ALWAYS available 24 hours per day regardless of diversion status."
