10 8 18 RTCA FootballOctober 6—The RTCA Crusaders lost a hard fought game Friday night at home to the Brentwood Academy War Eagles 20-14.

RTCA got on the board with 6:35 left in the first quarter on a fake punt by Cade Jones who ran 61-yards for a touchdown. The PAT was good to put the Crusaders up 7-0.

In the second quarter after burning up almost four minutes on the clock Brentwood scored a TD on a 2-yard run by Chase Everett to make the score 7-6 Crusaders.

After a Crusader punt the War Eagles scored next on a long 75-yard touchdown pass from Newton to Johnson with 6:27 remaining in the half to put Brentwood up 12-7 at halftime.

Brentwood Academy got on the scoreboard again on their opening drive of the second half on an Everett 2-yard run with 7:01 in the third period. The 2-point conversion was good for a 20-7 lead.

In the fourth quarter with 8:47 left in the game quarterback Cade Jones scored his second TD of the night on a 1-yard run. The PAT by Keene was good to cut the Brentwood lead to 20-14.

The Crusaders started from their own 14-yard line with 7:05 left and drove the ball down the field. The Crusaders had an opportunity to tie and maybe win the game with just 1:24 remaining in the contest, but turned the ball over on downs after a dropped pass on fourth down.

The Crusaders go to 5-2 for the season and are off next week and are back in action on Friday October 19th against St. Andrews in Savannah with kickoff set for 7:30PM. You can hear the action on News Talk WVOP-AM 970 and 105.3 FM and on the web @ southeastgeorgiatoday.com.
