October 4-- The Vidalia Indians Cross Country teams competed in the 17th Annual Tift Invitational on Saturday, September 29.  The Indians had excellent performances from the High School and Middle School teams. 

Ashley Hammock once again ran a personal best and finished 5th in a field of over 150 middle school runners. She was followed by Deserae Lumley.

The Middle School Boys had an exciting race with Andrew Hodges in the lead of the Indian pack.  He had an excellent time and personal record with a time of 13:49 in the 2 mile race.  He was followed by Drew Vaughn, Hunter Hammock and Jack Godbee all with personal best times this week. 

10 1 18 VHS CC BoysThe Lady Indians had some impressive finishers with Kaitlyn Allen running her personal best by improving over a minute on her time, running a 25:12.  Allie Whittaker also had an excellent day with a 26:21 minute finish and a personal best.

“These two young ladies are a joy to watch. They set out to compete and always impress us with a time faster than the week before. Their hard work in practice shows every time they race. Coach Mandy Godbee said.

The Indian Boys team finished in 4th place this week.  The field was highly competitive and large scale. Chason Brogdon finished 6th in a field of 236 athletes,running a personal best time of 18:08.  Cole Register was right on his heels and had an excellent race as well. Freshman Tucker Coleman had a personal best race with a time of 19:23 and Luke Palmer with a 19:35.

“We have three other runners that have run in the 19 minute range this year. If we can pull it all together for one meet, these fellows are going to be hard to beat.  It is such an honor to watch all four teams flourish into fine young runners.” Godbee said.
