The Vidalia Indians rushed for 462 yards on Friday night as they rolled past Tattnall County 42-14 at Buck Cravey Field. With the win the Indians improve to 3-0 on the year and also secured the 600th win in school history. Marc Wardlaw rushed for three touchdowns and 85 yards on the night and Nyshun Bell continued to pile up his yardage on the year rushing for 119 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown.

9 8 18 Marc WardlawThe Indians started the game off in fine fashion receiving the opening kick and driving the ball to the Tattnall 41 in 4 plays. Marc Wardlaw then took the next snap and sprinted 41 yards hitting pay dirt with 9:33 left in the first quarter to make the score 7-0 after Grady Blount’s PAT.

However Tattnall would answer the call on their first possession of the game. Taking the ball at their own 24 yard line, the Battle Creek Warriors went 76 yards in 14 plays behind the passing of quarterback Tyler Yancey. The Warriors would get their first points of the night on a 2nd and goal from the 4 yard line when Dwayne James took it up the middle for the touchdown and with 3:42 to go in the opening quarter the score was tied 7-7.

Vidalia would take the ball on their own 26 yard line on their next possession and drive the ball 74 yards in 9 plays resulting in Wardlaw’s 2nd touchdown of the night. This time the junior signal caller would take it in from 19 yards out making the score 14-7 with 10:55 to go in the half.

The teams would swap punts on their next possessions and following another 3 and out by the Indian defense the offense would go to work again. This time taking the ball on their own 19 yard line, the Indians marched down the field behind the hard running of Rodney Wardlaw who would score his first touchdown of the year on the 10th play of the drive, taking it in from 2 yards out to make the score 21-7 with 1:48 to go in the half.

Tattnall would make a drive down to the Indian 11 yard line on their next possession but the Vidalia defense would come up big on a 4th and 3 forcing the Battle Creek Warriors to turn the ball over on downs with just seconds to go in the half. Vidalia would take a knee on the next play and take a 21-7 lead into the half.

Tattnall County opened the 2nd half with a 65 yard drive again behind th arm of Yancey who capped the drive off with a 7 yard pass to Keandre Cain to make the score 21-14 with 8:17 to go in the 3rd quarter.

That was as close as the visitors would get as the Indians would score on their next possession, on a 6 yard run by Nyshun Bell. The drive began on the Indian 48 yard line after Freshman Bryce Davis returned the ball 41 yards. Bell scored with 7:11 to go in the quarter to make it 28-14.

The Indians Nyshun Bell would get the only turnover on the night when he intercepted a Yancey pass on the 5th play of the drive at the Indian 35 yard line. Ten plays later quarterback Marc Wardlaw would get his 3rd touchdown of the night taking it in from 13 yards out, capping off a 9 play 65 yard drive to make it 35-14 with 22 seconds to go in the quarter.

The Indians final score of the night came with 2:18 to go in the game when Bryce Davis sprinted 81 yards for his first varsity touchdown of his career to make the final score Vidalia 42 and Tattnall County 14.
