September 7-- The Toombs County Cross Country teams competed at Wayne County yesterday.  Senior Ricardo Santana led the way for the boys with a 17:50, and finishing 3rd overall.  Cruz Arrenado finished 2nd for the boys with a 19:46, good enough for 22nd overall.  In his first race back, recovering from an injury this summer, Martin Santana ran an impressive 22:41 in his first meet.  On the Girls side, the Bulldogs were led by sophomore Jacky Balderas, with a 26:02.  Jacky was followed closely behind by 3 other teammates who were all under 30 minutes. 9 7 18 Toombs Co Cross Country

"I was pleased with our performance today.  Every single boy ran their best time of the season today.  We are about 6 weeks into training, and that's about the time you should start seeing times drop, and we are seeing that now.  The kids are working hard at practice each day and now hopefully they are starting to see the positive results from that work.  Several of the runners are already within 1 minute or so of their times from the region meet last year, and that is encouraging.  I am hoping to see them all better their times at the region meet in October." Coach Jeremy Moore said.

The Bulldogs will be in action again on Monday when they travel to Bulloch Academy and then again next Thursday when they travel to Richmond Hill.(Pictured senior Ricardo Santana)
