August 10-- The Treutlen Vikings held the Glascock County Panthers to less than 50 yards of total offense in route to a 33 – 0 win at Bobby Driggers Stadium in the Vikings only scrimmage game of the preseason. The Vikings first scheduled scrimmage last week at Telfair County was cancelled due to weather.

After forcing a 3 and out on the Panthers first possession of the game, the Vikings capped a 75 yard drive with a 1 yard TD run by Senior RB Chris Stone with 2:07 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT by Caleb Williams was good and Treutlen led 7 – 0.

The Vikings added another TD on their next possession on a 15 yard scamper by Freshman QB PJ Smiley. After the missed PAT, Treutlen led 13 – 0 with 11:48 left in the second quarter. Treutlen added two more touchdowns in the second quarter on a 3 yard run by Chris Stone and a 9 yard run by Sophomore Jeremiah Miller to take a 26 – 0 lead in to halftime.

Treutlen added their last touchdown in the third quarter with 5:18 remaining on an 8 yard scamper by Freshman Cam Curry. Williams split the uprights with the PAT to make the final 33 – 0 in favor of the Vikings.

The Viking defense held Glascock County to just 2 yards rushing on the night and only 44 through the air, with 30 of that coming on one of their 3 completed passes. Sophomore RB Jeremiah Miller led the Viking offensive ground attack with 177 yards and 1 TD on just 15 carries. Cameron Curry added another 72 on 6 carries. Senior Chris Stone had 2 carries for 4 yards and two touchdowns. PJ Smiley was 5 for 7 through the air for 54 yards and Senior QB Trevor Byrd was 2 for 7 for 15 yards.

The Vikings open up the regular season next Friday night at Bobby Driggers Stadium in Soperton as they take on ACE Academy from Macon with kickoff set for 7:30. Be sure to catch all the action on Sweet Onion Country 101.7 FM and online at www.southeastgeorgiatoday.com.
