July 20—Lyons City Manager Jason Hall has been named as the new director of the Southeast Georgia Soapbox Derby. Hall takes over for longtime director Michael Williamson. Matt Driggers will work with Hall as a Co-Director running the organization especially on the technical side of things. Driggers and his family have been very successful with the Soap Box Derby including winning World Championships in Akron, Ohio.

“There is no way I can fill Michael Williamsons’ shoes, he has done so much over the past years. The Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby is a team effort and we have an amazing team that work hard for the derby. Fortunately they chose me to be sort of the face of the Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby and I am excited about the opportunity although I am not going to be able to take a lot of credit. Matt Driggers comes to the table with a lot of knowledge and Michael is still going to be with us just not in the directors’ chair.” Hall said.

“The Soap Box Derby is something that I am very passionate about and my kids absolutely love racing in it. Jason is the new director and I am excited to serve under him and continue what Michael and Gina Williamson have done over the past seven years. We have big shoes to fill but our committee is still intact and we are excited about the future of the Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby.” Driggers said.
