June 20--  Vidalia native and PGA professional golfer Paul Claxton shot an even par 72 Wednesday in the final round of the PGA Professional Championship at Seaside, California.

paulclaxtonheadshotHe ends the four-day tournament six over par and tied for 42nd, well above the Top 20 score he needed to qualify for this year's PGA Championship in August.  Last year he tied for third.

Claxton is the former pro at the now closed Hawk's Point  Golf Course in Vidalia which is the course where he learned to play golf as a boy.  He was a second-team All-American golfer on the University of Georgia golf team in 1990 and was the first golfer to earn $1 million on what is now the Web.Com Tour.  He lives in Claxton with his wife and two children.
