May 14-- The Montgomery County Eagles boys' track and field team emerged as the 2018 State Champion down in Albany this past weekend. The state championship is the first for the Eagles Track program. The Eagles have been the only Class A team to finish in the top 4 and trophy for the last 4 consecutive seasons, but they were able to win by 6 points over a familiar foe Turner County.5 14 18 Moco Track Boys State

Making the awards podium for the Eagles were:

Clayton Harvey led the Eagles winning the 400, taking 6th in the long jump, runner-up in the 200, and runner-up on the 4x400 relay.

Da'Quan Jackson: Runner-Up in the triple jump, 3rd in the 300 hurdles, and runner-up on the 4x4 relay.

Trey Ricks: Runner-up in the 800 and runner-up in the 4x4.

Jaheim Wilson: Runner-up in the discus, 4th in the shot put.

Ty'un Roundtree: 5th in the shot put, 8th in the discus.

Jay Mincey: 6th in the high jump.

Darique Williams: Runner-up in the 4x4 relay.

Other competitors for the Eagles were Randy Shoemake (9th in the pole vault) and Crystian Garcia (12th in the 3200).

The Lady Eagles also had their fair share of girls that make the podium.

Emeral James: 5th place in the 4x4 relay.

Ryteisha Mclin: 5th place in the 4x4 relay.

Arlona Jordan: 5th place in the 4x4 relay.

SyNarea Newkirk: 5th place in the 100 hurdles and the 4x4 relay.

Judah Boykin: 6th place in the 300 hurdles.
