5 2 18 Jesse MorrisAUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced its weekly award winners Monday, with No. 20 Georgia College Softball's (35-13, 16-4 PBC) Jessie Morris (Vidalia) earning PBC Freshman of the Week.

Morris made three appearances this week, going 2-1 with a 1.66 ERA and 10 strikeouts over 12 2/3 innings. She got both wins in a doubleheader sweep of Columbus State University Saturday, not allowing an earned run in a complete-game in the opener, striking out six and allowing three hits. She held a no-hitter for 5 2/3 innings. She entered in relief of game two, getting a scoreless ninth to set up the Bobcats' walk-off win in the bottom half. Morris is currently fifth in the PBC in ERA and tied for seventh in wins.

Morris is the second PBC Freshman of the Week for GC Softball this season, joining Sarah Couch (Madison) April 9. Bobcat Softball has 13 conference freshman of the week awards all-time.

The Bobcats are in action Friday, May 4 at 11 a.m., taking on Augusta University in the PBC Quarterfinals in Dahlonega.
