B Whitehead Batting

The J.R. Trippe Middle School Chiefs used a 5 run second inning and solid pitching from Bryson Whited and Caden Spivey in route to a 12-4 win over the West Lauren's Middle School Raiders, Thursday in Vidalia.

The Chiefs broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 2nd inning sending 9 batters to the plate scoring 5 runs on 4 hits including a bases clearing double by Whitehead to give the Chiefs a 5-0 lead which they would never relinquish, while handing the Raiders their first loss in 67 Middle Ga Middle School Athletic Association games.

Whited pitched into the 5th giving up only 1 earned run on 4 hits while striking out 6 and walking 7. Spivey who took over in the 5th ended the day without giving up a run and only two hits, while striking out 6.

On the offensive side of the plate, Ty Dalley and Hughes Graham each had a triple whit Graham’s driving in 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th.

With the win, The Chiefs are now 18-2 & 11-1 in Conference play and secured the number one spot heading into this week’s Conference Tournament. The Chief’s will play at home on Tuesday at 4:00 against an opponent to be determined and if they are victorious in that game, they will play again Thursday afternoon at 4:00 for the MGMSSA Championship. Ty Dalley
