April 13—The Vidalia High School Boys track team traveled to Statesboro Wednesday evening to compete in a Last Call Region Prep Meet and brought home another championship over Wayne County, Screven, McIntosh and Calvary Day.

The Indians had some season best and personal best performances.  The 4x100 team had a season best but fell short to Screven, from another heat by .05 seconds. The team of Keyun Strickland, Mielon Parrish, Kahlil Jones and TyQuan Powell.

Other outstanding performances and top placers were:

Cole Register placing 1st in the 3,200. 

Jonathan Moody won the long jump.

Santuan Wells placed 3rd in the long jump. 

Mielon Parrish also won his event with a season best by almost 2 seconds in the 400. Santuan Wells was close behind him with a 3rd place finish in this event. Mielon also placed in the 200 with a 3rd place finish.

In the 110 Hurdles Jesi Mcrae and TyQuan Powell are racking up lots of points and competing better than ever.  TyQuan finished 2nd in a very close race while Jesi took 3rd. These two athletes also ran exceptionally well in another very close 2nd place finish for TyQuan and a 4th place finish for Jesi.

Malik Lee jumped another personal best with a 3rd place finish in the high jump and continues to climb the state rankings. 

In the 1600 Chason Brogdon ran a personal best and is pushing to go under 5 minutes with a 3rd place finish.  Cole Register finished 4th.

“These young athletes are striving for excellence and working hard on the track.  They have focused, set their sights high and are ready to compete with the best.  I can't wait to see what they accomplish at Region in Claxton on Monday and Tuesday, April 16th and 17th.” Coach Mandy Godbee said.
