March 8—The Montgomery County Eagles came up short to the Wilkinson County Warriors 71-68 in the GHSA Class A Basketball State Championship Wednesday night in Macon.

The Warriors led the Eagles 21-18 after the first period with the game tied at 38-38 at the half. The Warriors had the lead at the end of the third quarter 51-49. Both teams held the lead and the game was tied eight times.

The Eagles were led in scoring by Jahleel Wilson with 27 points, Daveaun Coglin with 19 points. Wilkinson County held Shaw Robinson to just 5 points in the game.

The Eagles end the season at 27-4.

Wilkinson County wins their tenth state championship and the third one in a row.
