February 28— At the end of the Toombs County Football Banquet held at Hawk’s Point kicker Rig Tinoco signed a letter of intent for a scholarship to kick for the Tigers of Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina.

“I found out about the offer last week and we went up there to check it out. I kicked for about an hour and when I got done they told me they were going to offer me a scholarship and I just couldn’t believe it. At one point I was really discouraged and didn’t think it was going to happen, but my coaches kept telling me that the hard work I put in was going to pay off. This is just a dream come true. I want to thank Coach Marsh and Coach Hayes for always believing me and my family for always encouraging me.” Tinoco said.

Coach Nick Hayes added, “You don’t find many kickers that want to come out and participate in all of the tackle drills and the hitting, but Rig is just a special kid. He was such a game changer for us and I just can’t wait to see the great things that he does at the next level.”

“This doesn’t happen very often for kickers and to put in as much work as he has to get there we are just very excited for him. He was discouraged at the end of the season, but he just kept plugging along and the Lord has blessed him with this opportunity and we are very proud and happy for him.” Head Coach Ritchie Marsh stated.
