February 23— In the second round of the GHSA Class A State Basketball Playoffs the Montgomery County Eagles defeated the Randolph Clay Red Devils 95-74 Thursday night in Mt. Vernon. With the win the Eagles improve to 25-3 for the year and advance to the “Elite 8.”

The Eagles dominated the game early and led 27-9 at the end of the first quarter and 46-29 at halftime. The Red Devils made a run in the third period and closed the Montgomery County lead to just three points 61-58 at the end of the quarter. The Red Devils came to within one point with 5:35 remaining in the game, but the Eagles went on a run to close out the game for the win.

Daveaun Coglin led the way in scoring for the Eagles with 31 points followed by Jahleel Wilson with 16 points and Shaw Robinson with 14 points. 2 26 18 Moco Basketball 2

The Eagles move on to play the Lanier County Bulldogs on the road next Wednesday at 6PM.
