February 8-- The JR Trippe Middle School wrestling team participated in the South Georgia Middle School Championships, placing fifth overall and five of the seven competing wrestlers earning a top four place in the tournament. “We came here and placed fifth as a team with only seven wrestlers, we can only imagine where we’d place if our whole team had come to this,” stated Coach Bobby Blount. Those placing for the Chiefs were Emmanuel Thornton, first; Hunter Manning, second; Mason Galbreath, third; Extavious Hill, fourth; and Damian Townsel, fourth. Other wrestlers competing for the Chiefs were Javarius Worthen and Tommy Walker. All seven of these eighth graders will move up to Vidalia High School and compete for the Indians next year.
