January 9-- The Toombs County Bulldog Wrestling Team competed at the Area Dual Championships last Saturday and walked away with a fifth straight championship. With the win, the Bulldogs were able to secure the second seed in the GHSA Class AA State Duals Tournament to be held Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th.

Toombs began the day with an 81-0 win over the Bacon County Red Raiders. This win matched the Bulldogs up against the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets in the semifinals whom they defeated 68-6. Fitzgerald stood in the way of Toombs in the Area Duals finials. This was a rematch of the last year’s finals which the Bulldogs won 46-30. The Bulldogs won this year’s edition 45 to 25.

The Bulldogs will now travel to the state tournament this weekend to be held at the Macon Centreplex where they managed a state runner- up finish last season. The first round of the tournament will begin at 5:30 on Friday. Toombs will take on the Lamar County Trojans in this round. 1 9 18 Toombs Co Wrestling
