12 4 17 Toombs Co wrestlersDecember 4--The Toombs County Bulldog Wrestling Team traveled to Jeff Davis High School last weekend to participate in the 2017 edition of the Yellow Jacket Duals. The Bulldogs went into the weekend having won the last four Yellow Jacket Dual tournaments consecutively. This year would be no different as Toombs County finished a perfect 9-0 on the way to a 2017 title.

Toombs started the weekend with a 78-6 win over Montgomery County. The Bulldogs went on to defeat Telfair County in their next dual before beating Treutlen 48-21 and Loganville 75-4 to finish the first day of the tournament.

Toombs County opened the second day of the tournament winning 78-3 over Screven County and 47-27 over Turner County. Brackets were set based on each team’s record after the sixth round. The Bulldogs were matched up against Pierce County to start the seventh round and won over the bears 47-27. This set up a meeting between the Bulldogs and their archrival Vidalia Indians in the semifinal round. Toombs County went on to defeat the Indians 60-23.

Toombs County faced Veterans High School of Warner Robins in the championship match and posted a 40-27 win over the Warhawks. Defending AA 120 state Champion Ricardo Santana and heavyweight Rolando Tinoco continue their undefeated 2017 campaign with dominating performances throughout the weekend. The Bulldogs will be back in action next weekend as they split their squad to take part in both the Cook Duals and the Effingham Invitational Tournament.
