November 27-- The Indians went into the Colonel Harvey Robinson Duals forfeiting three weight classes but still put up a tremendous fight. Coach Steve Fullam stated, “Our guys set the pace in each and every match wrestled. We want a pace that others cannot maintain.” The tournament is named in honor of Colonel Harvey Robinson; the first wrestling state champion in school history, played football and wrestled at Jacksonville State University, former Commander of the European Forces, and currently stationed at The Pentagon where he was present on 9/11/2001 for the attack. “It was a great honor to compete in this tournament that has been named after a valued member of the Cartersville community and an outstanding American hero,” stated Coach Ferry. Even down 18 points before every dual meet, the Indians posted some impressive scores. Vidalia was defeated by Armuchee; a state duals qualifier every year; by a score of 28 – 45. The Indians defeated Calhoun 47 – 25, lost to Ringgold 32 – 36, lost to Hiram 28 – 48, and lost to Rockmart 33 – 45. “Our Indians showed true toughness today. We’re really proud of how our guys represented the Vidalia community,” commented Coach Bobby Blount. Individual highlights were made by Tahjah Watts (195) 5 – 0, Tom Godbee (170) 4 – 1, Robert Allen (132) 3 – 2, Quadir Harris (138) 2 – 1, Elijah Thornton (145) 3 – 1, and Allderreis Tillery (152) 3 – 2.

Coach Ferry continued, “We could have bumped some guys up in different weights and managed our upper weight forfeit which could have changed some scores. However, we were really more concerned with getting quality matches and focus on our technique. So that’s how we matched our guys up and didn’t really worry about the team scores. I’m really impressed that the scores were as close as they ended.”11 27 17 VHS Wrestling
