November 13-- The Toombs County Bulldog wrestling team kicked off the 2017 season last Saturday with a trip to the Swamp Duals hosted by Ware County High School. Despite a roster depleted of all football players, the team managed a third-place finish at the event. The Bulldogs began the day with a 57 to 21 win over Yulee (Florida.)

The Bulldogs defeated class AAAAA Statesboro High School 46 to 28 in the second round. The Dawgs lost to class AAAAA Ware County 46 to 28 in the third round before rebounding with a win over AAAAAAA Colquitt County 40 to 39 in the 4th. Toombs faced off against Class AAAAAAA Tift County in the third-place championship round match and won 42 to 40 to finish the day.

The Bulldogs look to best their outstanding 2016- 2017 campaign which ended with a state runner- up finish at the GHSA State Dual Tournament with an even stronger effort this year. Toombs County will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Alcovy High School in Covington.11 13 17 TCHS Wrestling
