With just one game left in the regular season, the Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagle Middle School received their first loss of the season in an extremely close game, 28-26 against Covenant Academy Rams out of Macon, Georgia. The Rams are now 6-0 and sit in the top spot in the region, while the Eagles are in second and sit 6-1. 8th grader James Hutcheson rushed for 155 yards on 27 plays and 2 touchdowns and one conversion. Hutcheson also led the team with 10 tackles and 1 assist.

Coach Seth Sitzman said concerning the loss, “I’m proud of the boys tonight and I can’t complain about the group of guys I’ve had, I’ve been blessed with them. I’m not disappointed in them as a coach. I agree with everything we did tonight, we just ran out of time, but we’ve been preparing these guys for over three weeks and overall, they came out here and matched up with us. I’m just really proud of our guys and hopefully we can see Covenant Academy again in the playoffs.”

At halftime, Paige Kight from Patricia’s Twirling Stars excited the fans with a solo fire twirling performance and PE Coach John Alexander showed off some of his student’s gymnastics skills with a mini-performance.

The Middle School Eagles are on the road to Crisp Academy in Cordele next Thursday for their final regular season game, before they enter post-season play.

In a touching display, the American flag was at half-mast in memory of Toombs County native and Green Beret Dustin Wright who recently gave his life serving this country.
