UPDATE:  The story on the Sweet Onion Classic Hole-In-One has an update.

After all the excitement, it turns out Hal Chesser will not win a Chevy Malibu after all.  Chesser said he hit from the "WhiteTees" and discovered when they were doing the certification that he should have hit from the "Blue Tees" which were a few yards back on the tee box.

However, looking on the bright side, he said he's still happy because it's his first-ever "Hole-in-One" in his fifty years of playing golf!

September 25—The Annual Sweet Onion Classic Golf Tournament was held Friday, September 22 at Hawk’s Point in Vidalia.

During the tournament Hal Chesser of Vidalia made a hole-in-one on the par 3 -third hole and won a brand new 2017 Chevy Malibu from Paul Thigpen Chevrolet in Vidalia. Chesser made the 170 yards shot with a six-iron.

“I couldn’t be happier. I have been playing golf for fifty years and that was my first one in my life. I want to thank Paul Thigpen Chevrolet for this great prize and I really appreciate it.” Chesser said.

“Wow! Twenty-two years in the car business and this is the first one I have ever given away at a tournament. I am very happy for Hal.” Paul Thigpen said.
