Thursday afternoon in Sparta, Georgia the Vidalia Heritage Academy Middle School football team faced off with their GICAA opponent, the John Hancock Academy Rebels. It was all VHA with two opening quarter touchdowns and a lead at the end of the first quarter, 14-0.  In the second quarter, the VHA Eagles added another touchdown to go up 21-0 and with about 5:30 left in the half, 8th grader Hugh Baird grabbed the eagles a pick six from the Rebels 40-yard line, resulting in their fourth touchdown of the night. The Rebels managed to answer back with a touchdown of their own before halftime, and the halftime score was 28-6. The Eagles put up another 16 points in the second half and with a running clock in the final quarter, the Eagles captured their season opener 44-6 in Sparta.

The Eagles are on the road again next Tuesday with a long trip to play Young American's Christian School in Conyers with a start time of 4pm.

The VHA Varsity 8-man team will kick off their season on September 1st at Twiggs Academy.
