August 4--  Viking QB Trevor Byrd hit WR James Byrd on a 27 yard touchdown pass as the final buzzer sounded to give Treutlen a 12-7 victory over the East Laurens Falcons in their first scrimmage of the 2017 season Fr8 5 17 Treutlen Football 2iday night at Bobby Driggers Stadium in Soperton.

After trading punts on their first possessions, Treutlen got on the board first with a 10 play, 70 yard drive when sophomore QB Sabo Mitchell hit senior WR Javis Wise on a 20 yard pass with 8:47 remaining in the second quarter.  The PAT sailed wide right and the Vikings led 6-0.

The Falcons answered the score with just 38 second left in the first half when senior FB Bryce Robinson ran it in from 2 yards out capping a 10 play, 90 yard drive.  The PAT was good giving East Laurens a 7-6 lead at the half.

Both teams traded possessions in the second half with many younger players getting time in the fourth quarter before Treutlen pulled out the victory at the end. 

Junior RB Tafarje Jordan led the Viking rushing attack with 59 yards on 12 carries.  Senior RB John Shivers added 57 yards on 7 carries.  QB Sabo Mitchell was 2 for 9 for 34 yards and a touchdown.  QB Trevor Byrd was 3 for 3 for 39 yards and a touchdown.  Junior LB Kobe Thomas led the Viking defense with 8.5 tackles on the night.
