July 27-- Josey Harrell, a rising sixth student at Vidalia Heritage Academy, competed in the NASP World Tournament on July 22, 2017, in Orlando, Florida, in the Elementary Girls Division. She shot a score of 264, which placed her 48th among all 5th grade girls and 58th among all Elementary girls. Josey had the 2nd best score among all Georgia archers in that division and she finished 581 out of the 1653 total female archers (in elementary, middle, and high school) in the World Tournament.

Josey had a great archery season (this is just her 2nd year of competition) as she won first place in four District tournaments, she shot a 282 to win first place (among all archers in all divisions) at the Regional tournament, and she placed 3rd in the Georgia State Bullseye Tournament. She won 3rd place at the State 3-D Tournament and was a part of the Heritage Archery Elementary team that won the State 3-D title. Josey shot a 284 to win 3rd place in the National Centershot Tournament, held in Louisville, Kentucky, she placed 13th in the National Target Tournament, which qualified her to compete in the NASP World Tournament, held in Orlando, Florida. At the World competition, she had the 2nd best Georgia score among elementary females, she was 48th among all fifth-grade girls and 58th in the overall Elementary girls division. She shot for the Middle School Archery team that won 2nd place in the GICAA State Tournament. Josey is the daughter of Stuart and Nancy Harrell, from East Dublin, and her sister is Valya Harrell (GICAA Cross Country State Champion in 2014 and VHA graduate). Josey is an National Academic Archer (straight A average in all subjects) and she will be attending VHA Middle School this year, so she will be competing in the Middle School division in future NASP and GICAA archery tournaments
