May 12--Robert Toombs Christian Academy held its 2017 Varsity Sports Awards on Monday, May 8, at Southeastern Technical College. Athletes who participated in Winter and Spring Sports for the 2017 season were awarded. The Winter Sports included Boys and Girls basketball and wrestling. Freshman J. J. Jones received Best All Around for Girls Basketball and Senior Frankie Toole received MVP for Boys Basketball. Top Wrestlers were Junior Jackson Jones and Freshmen Grayson Osborne. The Spring Sports include Soccer, Track, Baseball, Tennis, Golf and Cheerleading. Seniors Hope Denmark and Logan Carroll received MVP for Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer. For Track, Sophomores Sarah Tuck and Payton Nance received the Lightning Awards. Freshman J. J. Jones and Junior Cassi Heath received the Thunder Awards for Girls Track. The Lighting Awards for Boys Track were awarded to Seniors Toby Upshaw and Jarrett Jackson. Junior Wil Duvall and Senior Donnie Barrow received the Thunder Awards for Boys Track. Senior Jared Durden was awarded the Cy Young Award in baseball. For Tennis, Best Singles was awarded to Senior Jesse Standard. Juniors Wil Duvall and Jarron Guy received Best Doubles. The Top Golfer was Junior Dylan Mulling. Most Valuable Cheerleader was awarded to Payton Nance.  Scholar Athletes were Seniors Jared Durden and Hope Denmark. Christian Athletes were Senior Jared Durden and Junior Hannah Coursey. Athletes of the Year were Senior Frankie Toole and Junior Cassi Heath.
