The 26th Annual Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby started Friday morning on Derby Hill at Partin Park in Lyons with the 2nd Annual Super Kids Race. This division is for special needs kids that get the opportunity to ride down the hill in a tandem car with an experienced driver at the wheel.

Jessica Gibbs a senior at Toombs Co finished in first place, Harley Neesmith, also a senior at Toombs Co High School came in second and Angel Patterson of Vidalia took third place.

“We want these kids to have fun and remember this for a lifetime. Everybody came out to the park today and supported the Super Kids Race and I am very proud.” Soap Box Derby Director Michael Williamson said.

Shauna Hutcheson not only won the race last year, but went on to Akron, Ohio and became a World Champion.
