January 10-- Mr. Donald Eugene Boaen Sr., age 70, of Vidalia passed away Jan. 8, 2018. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War as a United States Marine. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy.. He was a graduate of Middle Georgia College with a degree in chemical engineering and worked for nearly forty years in wastewater management and as a business owner of Lighthouse Lanes Bowling Center in Vidalia and Boaen Construction Company. He was currently employed with Tindall Industries. He was a hobbyist farmer and enjoyed his many animals. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Eugene Boaen; mother, Elizabeth Ann Schiefelbein Boaen; two sisters, Rose Annette Boaen and Francis Louise Boaen; one brother, Larry Boaen; father-in-law, Thomas F. Caraway Jr., and mother-in-law Evelyn Haskins Caraway.

Mr. Boaen is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Margaret Ann Boaen of Vidalia; three sons, Mark Anthony Boaen of Statesboro, Christopher Michael Boaen and wife Heather Lowery Boaen of Wilmington Island, and Donald Eugene Boaen Jr. of Vidalia; one daughter, Kristy Michelle Boaen Jameson and husband Samuel of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rose Boaen, Kaiden Alexander Boaen, Elliette Lowry Boaen and Emmett Ray Lowry Boaen.

He is also survived by two brothers Joseph Boaen of Swainsboro and James Boaen of Vidalia; six sisters, Barbara Boaen of Wilmington Island, Joyce Boaen Beasley of Lyons, Eleanor Boaen of Collins, Margaret Boaen Biggers of Reidsville, Mary Boaen Edwards of Milledgeville, and Teresa Boaen Ross of Elberton; one sister-in-law Nettie Ruth Tiller of Vidalia; two brothers-in-law Thomas F. Caraway III of Vidalia and Carl Edwards of Milledgeville; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 12th at 3:00 p.m. with Military Honors in Pinecrest Cemetery with Brother Lee Burton officiating.
