Aug 7--Mrs. Grace Gowan Purser, age 91, of Glenwood died Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Oxley Park Health and Rehab of Lyons after an extended illness.

Mrs. Purser was born on September 1, 1925 in Wheeler County and graduated from Glenwood High School. After high school she moved to Michigan where she graduated from Eastside Beauty School in Detroit. After living many years in Detroit, Michigan; Warner Robins, and Dublin, she returned to Glenwood in 2001. She retired from Warner Robins Civil Services and was a retired beautician.  She was a former member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robins and a former member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church of Dublin. While attending Jefferson Street Baptist Church, she sang in the Cain and Abel Choir. She was a current member of Stuckey Baptist Church where she attended the adult Sunday School class.

Mrs. Purser is preceded in death by her parents, Annie Lee Sightler and John Luther Gowan; her brother, Hyman Gowan; her sister, Leah Tindol; and husband, Edward Jack Purser.

Mrs. Purser is survived by her sister, Jeanette Gibbs (A.F.) of Alamo; her sister-in-law, Dot Gowan of Glenwood; her nephew, Dr. Allen Tindol of Decatur; her nieces, Barbara Avery (L.P.) of Alamo, and Regina McNeal (Wendell) of Alamo; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great nieces and great-great nephews also survive.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Grace Gowan Purser will be held Sunday August 6, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Stuckey Baptist Church with Reverend Randall Gibbs and B.L. Horne officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday afternoon from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service.
