February 8-- Mrs. Elsie “Lucy” Williamson Oglesby, age 76, of Swainsboro, died Sunday, February 5, 2017, at her home, after a sudden illness.

She was a native of the Rackettown Community in Toombs County, and was a 1958 graduate of Lyons High School. She lived in Savannah, and was a longtime employee of the Piggly Wiggly there. Later, she and her husband moved to Swainsboro started Roy’s Butcher’s Shop which they operated for many years. She was a member of the Pendleton Springs Baptist Church.   She enjoyed quilting for her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Oglesby, and was the last of thirteen brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Oglesby is survived by two sisters-in-law, Betty Williamson and Mary Simmons of the Rackettown Community; one brother-in-law, John Oglesby and wife Lora Gale of Alston; longtime friend, Betty Lou Hooks of Swainsboro; numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful pet companion, Candi.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 9th at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:30 until just prior to the service.
